How it works

How to Put a Logo in the Middle of a QR Code

Adding your logo to a QR code takes less than a minute. Whether you need a logo QR code for business cards, product packaging, or marketing materials, QRKit makes it simple. We support logo uploads on all 20+ QR code types — including URL, WiFi, vCard, PDF, and social media.

Step 1

Choose Your QR Code Type

Select what your QR code links to: a website URL, WiFi credentials, a digital business card, a PDF, or any of 20+ content types. For most users, URL is the right choice.

Step 2

Enter Your Content

Paste your URL, enter your WiFi password, or fill in your vCard details. This is what people see when they scan your QR code.

Step 3

Upload Your Logo

Click “Upload Logo” and select your brand mark. QRKit accepts PNG, JPG, and WEBP. A square logo works best. Your logo appears centered in the QR code automatically.

Step 4

Customize Colors and Shapes

Match your brand palette by setting foreground and background colors. Choose one of six dot shapes (Classic, Bubble, Smooth, Sharp, Elegant, Dots) and eye frame styles. Keep foreground darker than background for reliable scanning.

Step 5

Download Your QR Code

Click “Download” and choose your format: PNG for websites and emails, SVG for scalable print materials. Designing costs nothing and needs no account; the PNG download itself takes a free account, with no card and no watermark, while SVG and PDF come with any paid plan.

Will my logo break the QR code? Usually not. QR codes carry error-correction data that lets a scanner rebuild modules hidden behind an image. Every QRKit code is generated at error-correction level Q, which recovers roughly a quarter of the symbol, and we place your logo at a fixed, conservative size in the center — but always scan-test the finished code before you print it.

Best practices

Logo Design Best Practices for QR Codes

Follow these guidelines to ensure your logo QR codes scan reliably and look professional across print and digital media. These six rules work for any logo placement.

01

The 30% Rule

Keep a center logo to roughly 30% of the QR code’s area or less. QR codes use Reed-Solomon error correction, and QRKit generates every code at level Q (~25% recovery), so the covered modules can be rebuilt as long as the logo stays small. QRKit places your uploaded logo at a fixed, conservative size, but always verify with a scan test.

02

Best File Formats

PNG is the safest choice — it is lossless, so logo edges stay clean, and it supports a transparent background. WEBP works well too. JPG is accepted but may show compression artifacts around logo edges. QRKit does not accept SVG or GIF logo files; export vector marks to PNG first, and avoid low-resolution images under 100×100px.

03

Square vs Round Logos

Square logos integrate most naturally into the QR code grid. Round logos work too, but need a slightly smaller size to avoid overlapping data modules at the edges. QRKit’s “Remove pattern behind logo” option clears the dots underneath, making round marks appear contained and professional without reducing scannability.

04

Keep Contrast High

Your logo should contrast with both the QR code pattern and the background. If your logo has a white background and the QR code background is also white, add a subtle border or colored padding. Dark QR pattern on white background with a colorful logo in the center is the safest, most scannable combination.

05

Simplicity Wins

Detailed logos with fine lines, small text, or gradients may not render clearly at typical QR code print sizes (2cm–5cm). Use a simplified version of your logo — an icon or logomark — rather than the full logo with tagline and legal text. The simpler the logo, the higher the scan rate at small sizes.

06

Test Before Printing

Always scan your logo QR code with at least three different devices (iPhone, Android, a dedicated scanner app like QR & Barcode Scanner) before sending to print. What looks great on screen can fail on paper. Test at the exact print size you intend to use, not at a larger digital preview.

Universal compatibility. QRKit's QR codes use standard error correction and comply with the ISO 18004 QR code standard. Your logo QR codes work with every major scanning app and smartphone camera. Need advanced color controls, dot shapes, and eye frames on top of your logo? See our full custom QR code generator, or get a logo, brand colors, and a frame as a preset with the branded QR code generator. Laying the code into artwork in Adobe Express? Its built-in generator will centre a logo too, but the codes it makes are static — the Adobe Express QR code guide covers what it does well and where a code you can repoint after printing is the safer choice.

Advanced

Dynamic Logo QR Codes: Edit After Printing

Static QR codes permanently encode a destination. Dynamic QR codes use a short redirect URL, meaning you can change where the code points without reprinting. A dynamic QR code with your logo gives you the best of both worlds: branded design that you can update after printing. Add your logo to a dynamic QR code and every scan will always go to the right place.

Change Destination Anytime

Update the URL after you’ve printed thousands of business cards. No reprinting needed.

Track Every Scan

Get location, device type, and time data for every scan. Measure campaign effectiveness in real time.

Set Expiration or Password

Control access with expiration dates or password protection for sensitive content — both on the Plus plan and up.

Retarget Everyone Who Scans

Fire your ad pixels when someone scans, so you can retarget those visitors later — on the Plus plan and up.

Troubleshooting

Logo QR Code Not Scanning? Here's How to Fix It

If your logo QR code isn't scanning reliably, check these common issues. Most problems have a simple fix. Using QRKit to add your logo prevents most of these issues automatically — we generate every code at error-correction level Q, place the logo at a fixed conservative size, and warn you when your color choices leave too little contrast.

Inverted Colors

Light-colored QR code pattern on a dark background can fail on older scanners. Stick with dark foreground, light background.

Low Error Correction Level

Some generators use Level L (7% recovery) by default, which leaves almost no budget for a logo. QRKit generates every code at level Q (~25% recovery), so keep the logo small and the remaining budget absorbs it.

Print Size Too Small

Logo QR codes need to be at least 2cm × 2cm (0.8in × 0.8in) for reliable scanning. Larger for complex logos.

Damaged or Partially Printed

Check print quality. Logo QR codes are less tolerant of smudging or partial printing than plain QR codes because the logo already uses some error correction capacity.

Still having issues? See our full QR code troubleshooting guide for general scanning problems, or try creating your QR code with QRKit — every code ships at error-correction level Q.
