8 Types of QR Codes Every Real Estate Agent Needs
Different real estate materials call for different QR code types. Here are the eight most effective QR codes for real estate agents, with what each links to and why it matters for your business.
Property Listing QR Code
URL QR Code → listing page
Links to the full online listing on Zillow, Realtor.com, or your agent website. Place on yard signs, postcards, and brochures. Buyers scan and see complete listing details, photos, and pricing without typing a URL. The most popular real estate QR code type.
Create This QR Code →Virtual Tour QR Code
URL QR Code → virtual tour
Links to Matterport, 3D tours, or walkthrough videos. Let buyers tour the home from the yard sign. Virtual tours influence the majority of buying decisions — make yours one scan away.
Create This QR Code →Agent Contact QR Code
vCard QR Code → phone contacts
Saves your name, phone, email, photo, and license number directly to the buyer’s phone. One scan and you’re in their contacts — no lost business cards.
Create This QR Code →Open House QR Code
Event QR Code → sign-in form
Links to a digital sign-in form, event details, or registration page. Replace paper sign-in sheets with a digital form and capture emails automatically.
Create This QR Code →PDF Brochure QR Code

Links to a downloadable property brochure, fact sheet, or neighborhood guide. Hand out a 2-page brochure but give buyers access to a 20-page property package.
Create This QR Code →Location QR Code

Opens Google Maps or Apple Maps with directions to the property. Scan and navigate — perfect for open house invitations and out-of-area buyers.

How to Create a QR Code for Real Estate in 5 Steps
Creating a QR code for your listing, yard sign, or postcard takes less than 2 minutes with QRKit's free QR code generator.
Choose Your QR Code Type
Open QRKit’s free generator and select a type. URL is the most popular for real estate — it links to listing pages, virtual tours, or landing pages. You can also choose vCard for agent contact, PDF for brochures, or Event for open house sign-ins.
Enter Your Content
Paste your listing URL, virtual tour link, or enter your contact details. For property listings, use the direct link to the listing page on Zillow, Realtor.com, or your agent website.
Customize the Design
Add your brokerage colors, choose a dot style, and upload your logo. Use a frame with a call-to-action like ‘Scan for Virtual Tour’ or ‘Scan for Details’ to increase scan rates by 30–50%.
Download in High-Res Format
Click Download and choose SVG for large signs (scalable without pixelation), PNG for digital use, or PDF for print. For yard signs and postcards, SVG at 300+ DPI is recommended.
Test Before Printing
Print a test copy and scan from the intended distance: 10 feet for yard signs, 3 feet for postcards, 2 feet for business cards. Verify the link loads correctly on both iPhone and Android.
Pro tip: Use a dynamic QR code so you can update the link after printing. When the property sells, change the QR code destination to your next listing without reprinting the sign. One dynamic QR code, unlimited listing updates.

Where to Place QR Codes on Real Estate Materials
Every printed material in your marketing toolkit can drive digital engagement with a QR code. Here's where to place them, what size to use, and what to link to for maximum impact.
Yard Signs
Min 2 × 2 in — scan from 6–10 ft
Place below agent photo or at bottom of sign. Link to listing page or virtual tour. Use a frame with ‘Scan for Virtual Tour’ text. Track which signs drive the most scans.
Postcards
Min 1 × 1 in — scan from 1–3 ft
Place on front near the property photo or on back with a call-to-action. Link to listing page, open house registration, or agent contact. Track which neighborhoods respond to your mailers.
Business Cards
Min 0.75 × 0.75 in — scan from 1–2 ft
Place on back of card. Link to vCard or agent website. Every card you hand out becomes a digital contact card.
Sign Riders
Min 1.5 × 1.5 in — scan from 3–6 ft
Attach above or below the main sign. Link to virtual tour or open house info. Add a QR code rider to any standard real estate sign for instant digital engagement.
Brochures & Flyers
Min 1 × 1 in — scan from 1–2 ft
Place near property details. Link to PDF with full property package, floor plans, or neighborhood data. Give buyers more without printing more.
Open House Materials
Table tents, door signs, welcome packets
Link to sign-in form, feedback survey, or property details. Replace paper sign-in sheets and capture leads digitally with every open house.
Email Signatures
Digital — no print size needed
Static QR code linking to your agent website or calendar booking page. Every email you send becomes a touchpoint for new leads.

Why switch
Why Real Estate Agents Are Switching to QR Codes
You print thousands of postcards, yard signs, and business cards every year. How many leads do they actually generate? Without tracking, you're guessing. QR codes change that.
Track Campaign Performance
See exactly how many people scanned your yard sign vs your postcard vs your business card. Know which $500 postcard campaign actually drove inquiries and which neighborhoods engage most.
Update After Printing
Listing sold? Change the QR code destination to your next listing or your agent website. No reprinting needed. One dynamic QR code handles unlimited listing updates across the life of a sign.
Capture Leads Automatically
QR codes linked to landing pages with contact forms turn passive print materials into active lead generation tools. Every yard sign and postcard becomes a digital touchpoint.
Save Money on Materials
Instead of printing 20-page property packets, print a 2-page brochure with a QR code linking to the full digital package. Reduce print costs while giving buyers more information.
Stay MLS/NAR Compliant
Dynamic QR codes let you update pricing and listing status without new print runs, keeping materials accurate and compliant with MLS guidelines. No more outdated signs with wrong prices.
Most agents still rely on plain yard signs with no digital component. Adding a QR code with scan tracking gives you a measurable advantage over every agent in your market who isn't tracking their print materials. QR Code Design Tips for Real Estate Print Materials
Outdoor real estate materials face unique challenges: sun exposure, scanning distance, and weather. Follow these guidelines to ensure your QR codes scan reliably on every sign, postcard, and brochure.
01
Size by Scanning Distance
Yard signs (6–10 ft) need minimum 2 × 2 in. Postcards (1–3 ft) need 1 × 1 in. Business cards (1–2 ft) need 0.75 × 0.75 in. Formula: QR code width = scanning distance ÷ 10.
02
Contrast for Outdoor Use
Dark QR code on a light background always works best. Avoid light gray or colored QR codes that wash out in direct sunlight. If your sign has a dark background, add a white rectangle behind the QR code.
03
Maintain the Quiet Zone
Keep at least 4 modules of white space around the QR code. Don’t crowd it against text, images, or the edge of the sign. On a yard sign, this means roughly 0.25 inches of clear space on all sides.
04
Use High Error Correction
Set error correction to High (30%) for materials that may get weathered, bent, or partially obscured. Use Medium (15%) for business cards and indoor brochures. QRKit applies optimal settings automatically.
05
Add a Call-to-Action Frame
A framed QR code with text like ‘Scan for Virtual Tour,’ ‘Scan for Details,’ or ‘Scan to Save My Contact’ gets significantly more scans than a plain QR code with no context.
06
Test Before Mass Printing
Print one copy at the actual size. Scan it from the intended distance with at least 3 different phones. Check both well-lit and low-light conditions. Once confirmed, send the batch to your printer.
Print tip: Always download SVG for print materials. SVG files are vector-based and scale to any size without pixelation. PNG files can become blurry when enlarged for yard signs. Want to add your brokerage logo? Customize your QR code with your logo and brand colors.
