What is a GPS QR code?

A GPS QR code is a dynamic QR code that, with the scanner's consent, records the precise device GPS location of a scan instead of only an approximate IP-based city. You see exactly where your codes are being scanned on a map in your analytics — useful for events, field teams, retail, and on-site campaigns.

How is precision GPS tracking different from normal scan analytics?

Standard analytics estimate location from the scanner's IP address, which is city-level and easy to mislocate. Precision GPS tracking asks the scanner to share their device location; when they allow it, the exact coordinates are recorded and plotted on a heat map. If they decline, QRKIT falls back to the usual approximate IP location.

What is geofencing for QR codes?

Geofencing restricts a dynamic QR code so it only unlocks its destination when the scanner is physically inside a zone you define — a center point and a radius. Scanners outside the zone are shown a blocked message instead of the content. The check runs on our server, and the destination is never sent to the browser until the scanner is confirmed inside the zone, so the gate can't be faked client-side.

How do I set up a geofence?

Create a dynamic QR code, open its Location settings in your dashboard, turn on "Restrict scanning zone (Geofence)", drop a pin on the map (or type coordinates), and set the radius. Save, and the QR code is immediately gated to that area.

Which plan includes GPS tracking and geofencing?

Does the scanner need to install an app?

No. Scanning works with any phone's built-in camera. The browser asks for one-tap location permission; there is nothing to install for you or the person scanning.

What happens if someone denies the location prompt?

For precision tracking, the scan still works and falls back to approximate IP location. For a geofenced QR code, the default is to block access when location is denied; you can optionally allow a coarse IP-based check instead from the geofence settings.
