Know where every scan happens — and where it’s allowed
Precise scan locations
With the scanner consent, record exact device GPS coordinates instead of approximate IP city — plotted on a heat map in analytics.
Geofence a scanning zone
Restrict a QR code to a boundary you set — a center point and radius. Scanners outside the zone see a blocked message; only on-site scans unlock the content.
Server-verified zone check
The inside/outside decision is recomputed on our server from the raw GPS coordinates, so the gate cannot be faked in the browser.
No app required
Works with any phone built-in camera. One-tap location permission — nothing to install for you or the person scanning.
How GPS tracking via a QR code works
A GPS QR code is a dynamic QR code that records the exact device location of each scan — with the scanner’s consent — instead of only an approximate IP city.
- 1
You create a dynamic QR code
The destination lives on our server, so you can change it and read analytics anytime without reprinting the code.
- 2
Someone scans it with their phone camera
The browser asks one-tap permission to share location — there is no app to install for you or the person scanning.
- 3
Allowed scans are pinned; declined scans fall back
If they allow it, the device’s GPS coordinates (typically accurate to ~5–20m) are recorded and plotted on a heat map in your scan analytics. If they decline, it falls back to approximate IP-based city location.

Geofenced codes are checked on our server
For a geofenced code, our server recomputes whether those raw coordinates fall inside the zone you defined and only then unlocks the destination — the check never runs in the browser, so it cannot be faked.
Creating the code and standard analytics are free; precise GPS coordinates and geofencing are on the Pro plan.
Where GPS & geofenced QR codes shine
- Events, venues & badge check-ins
- Confirm a badge was scanned on-site with a geofence, then read attendance on a map.
- Retail & in-store promotions
- See which stores drive the most scans, and keep an offer to in-store scanners only.
- Exhibitions & trade-show stands
- Measure booth foot traffic by exact scan location instead of a guessed IP city.
- Construction & field sites
- Verify a form or checklist was scanned on the job site, not off it.
- Asset, equipment & inventory tags
- Print a low-cost label so each scan logs where the item was last seen.
- Campus & facility access
- Gate access QR codes so they only unlock inside a building or zone.
Anywhere the scan location matters — signage, packaging, brochures, and vCards.
