Square QR Code Generator
Paste a Square payment link and QRKIT turns it into a branded QR code that opens your Square checkout the moment someone scans it. Add your logo, print it on a sign or a price tag, and make it dynamic so you can swap in a new link without reprinting. It's a URL QR code for your Square link, not a Square integration.
Square's own code
How to Get Your Square QR Code
Square already makes a QR code for every payment link, so if you just need one code for one link, start there. A payment link can collect a set amount, sell an item, or take a donation, and anyone who scans its code lands on Square's checkout page.
- Open your links. In Square Dashboard, go to Payments & orders, then Payment links. In the Square Point of Sale app, tap More, then Payment links. Square sometimes renames its menus, so look for Payments if you don't see that exact label.
- Share it. Click Share next to the link you want and choose QR code.
- Print and test it. Save the image, print it at least 1.2 inches (3 cm) square, and scan the printout with a phone that isn't yours. It should open your Square checkout.
The catch: Square payment links can't be edited after you create them, only deactivated or deleted, and Square's QR code points straight at the link. Change a price, replace the link, or deactivate it, and every printed copy of that code stops doing its job. Square's code also won't carry your logo or brand colors.
If your code is going on something you print once and keep, like a sign, a menu board, or a stack of tags, it's worth building one you can repoint later. Here's how.
Build yours
How to Make a Branded, Editable Square QR Code
QRKIT turns your Square payment link into a QR code you can brand, print at any size, and update later. It takes about a minute, and you don't need to sign in to Square to design one.
Copy your Square payment link
Copy the link from Square Dashboard or the Point of Sale app. It looks like square.link/u/AbC123.
Paste it into the generator
Drop the link into the URL field above to build a code that opens your Square checkout.
Customize and add your logo
Pick your colors, add your logo, and keep a Scan to Pay frame so shoppers know what the code does.
Download and print
Download a free PNG, no account needed for a static code. Dynamic codes need a free account. For big signs and banners, the vector SVG and PDF come with any paid plan.
How it works: This is a standard URL QR code that opens your Square payment link when scanned, the same idea as any other payment QR code. QRKIT doesn't connect to your Square account or touch your payments. The payment always happens on Square's checkout page, and Square's normal processing fees apply.
Scan to buy
Square QR Codes on Price Tags for Every Item
Resale shops, boutiques, and makers selling one-of-a-kind pieces use Square payment links as a scan-to-buy checkout: every item gets its own link, and every tag gets its own QR code. A shopper scans the tag, pays on their phone, and walks out. Because Square links can't be edited, a dynamic code is what keeps the printed tag useful when the price changes or the item sells.
One code per item
Make a Square payment link for each piece, then a dynamic QR code for each link. Name the code with the item's SKU so you can find it in seconds.
Make them in bulk
Upload a spreadsheet of Square links and get a code for every row. Bulk generation is on Plus and up, up to 5,000 rows per batch.
Or automate it with the API
A short script can create the code, download the PNG for the tag, and update the link later. The QRKIT API is on every plan.
Retire it when it sells
Pause the code once the item is gone, or point it at a new link if you restock or change the price. The printed tag never has to change.
Tagging a lot of stock? Plans are sized by how many dynamic codes you keep live at once, and a code you pause or delete after a sale frees its slot for the next item. See bulk QR code generation, the QR code API, and our guides to QR code labels and QR codes on clothing.
For business
Where Square Sellers Use QR Codes
A printed code lets customers pay you from their own phone, with no card reader and no typing. Put one anywhere a Square payment link would help.
Counters & registers
Post a code by the register so customers can pay from their phone when the card reader line backs up.
Price tags & hang tags
Put a code on each item's tag so a shopper can scan and buy that exact piece without waiting at the counter.
Markets & pop-ups
Print a big code for your table sign so people can pay from a few feet back, even without a second reader.
Classes & events
Add a code to flyers and posters that opens your Square link for a class, workshop, or ticketed event.
Invoices & quotes
Print a code on paper invoices and estimates so clients can pay the moment they see the total.
Donations & tips
Point a code at a Square donation link and set it on a jar, a stand, or a fundraiser banner.

Static vs dynamic
Static or Dynamic: Which Square QR Code Should You Use?
Both open the same Square checkout. The difference is what you can do after you print. A static code holds the link itself and never changes. A dynamic code can be pointed at a new Square link whenever the old one is replaced, and it counts your scans.
Static Square code
Free forever- Free and unlimited: make as many codes and take as many scans as you want.
- Never expires on our side. It works as long as the Square link stays active.
- Best for a link that won't change, like a tip or donation link.
Dynamic Square code
1 free with account- Swap in a new Square link after printing, or pause the code when an item sells.
- See scan analytics: scan counts, rough location, and device type (never payment data).
- Free plan includes 1 dynamic code with up to 100 scans per month, and scans show a short QRKIT screen before Square opens. Starter is $5/mo (billed yearly, or $8 monthly) for 12 codes and unlimited scans.

Print it right
Print Your Square QR Code So It Actually Scans
A code only makes you money if phones can read it. These specs keep yours scannable on a small sticker, a hang tag, or a window. For more, see our QR code size guide and printing guide.
Size it right
Print at least 1.2 inches (3 cm) square for tags and counter signs, and go bigger for posters and windows read from across a room.
Keep strong contrast
Use a solid dark code on a light background. Weak contrast is the most common reason a code won't scan.
Leave a quiet zone
Keep a clear margin on all four sides so the tag edge, a price sticker, or a string hole doesn't crowd the code.
Use vector for large format
For banners and big signs, use the SVG so the code stays crisp. SVG and PDF come with any paid plan.
Test before a big batch
Scan a printed sample with a couple of different phones and make sure it opens the right Square checkout before you tag a whole rack.
A Square code is one of many payment QR codes you can make with QRKIT. The same steps work for a Cash App QR code, a Venmo QR code, a PayPal QR code, and any other payment link. Selling online too? See QR codes for Shopify.
