Snapcodes: Snapchat's Built-in QR Codes
Snapchat's Snapcodes are yellow, circular codes with the ghost icon in the center — the most recognizable proprietary QR-like code among all social platforms. Here's how to find yours.
How to find your Snapcode
- 1Open the Snapchat app
- 2Tap your profile icon (top left)
- 3Your Snapcode appears next to your display name and username
- 4Tap the Snapcode to enlarge it
- 5Tap “Save Snapcode” to save to your camera roll
Tip: You can add a selfie or Bitmoji to the center of your Snapcode for personalization. Go to Settings → Snapcodes to create a Snapcode with a custom URL that opens a website when scanned.
How to get your Snapchat QR code: Once you locate your Snapcode in the app, tap “Save Snapcode” to download the image to your camera roll. You can also screenshot it and crop. Snapchat is the only Snapcode generator — there's no third-party tool that creates the proprietary round format. As of 2026, Snapcodes remain the most visually distinctive social media code, instantly recognizable by their yellow background and ghost silhouette.
For a Snapchat QR code download in print-ready formats (PNG, SVG, or PDF), or if you want to add your Snapchat QR code to your home screen as a shortcut, use a custom QR code from QRKIT — standard Snapcodes only save as low-resolution images.
Snapcode limitations
Snapcodes are limited to profile sharing — they can't link to stories, lenses, or specific content. Customization is limited to the center image (selfie or Bitmoji). There's no scan tracking, they require the Snapchat app to scan (most phone cameras won't recognize the round format), and you can't change the destination after creation. For marketing, print, or cross-platform use, create a custom QR code above.
Custom QR code
How to Create a Custom QR Code for Snapchat
Copy Your Snapchat URL
Open Snapchat, go to your profile, tap Share, and copy your profile link (snapchat.com/add/username). Or copy any Snapchat content URL — story, lens, or filter link.
Open QRKIT's Generator
Use the Snapchat QR Code Generator above, or our custom QR code generator for advanced options. It accepts any Snapchat URL — profiles, stories, lenses, and filters.
Paste the Snapchat URL
Paste your profile URL (snapchat.com/add/username), story URL (snapchat.com/s/[ID]), or lens URL (lens.snapchat.com/[ID]).
Customize Your Design
Add the Snapchat ghost logo. Use Snapchat yellow (#FFFC00) as the accent color. Pick a frame with CTA text like “Add Me on Snapchat.”
Download & Test
Download your Snapchat QR code as PNG for digital use or SVG for print materials. Always test-scan on both iPhone and Android before distributing.
Why custom beats Snapcode: Works with any phone camera (not just the Snapchat app), full branding (your logo and colors), scan tracking and analytics, dynamic QR codes (update the destination without reprinting), and print-ready formats (SVG, PDF).

Scanning
How to Scan QR Codes with Snapchat
Scanning a standard QR code: Open Snapchat and point your camera at any QR code. Snapchat detects it automatically and shows a banner — tap to open the link. Snapchat works as a universal QR code scanner online and offline, reading any QR code, not just Snapcodes.
Scanning a Snapcode (live): Point your Snapchat camera at the Snapcode and tap and hold on it. Snapchat reads the code and offers to add the friend or open the linked URL.
How to scan a Snapchat QR code from camera roll: Open Snapchat, tap the Add Friends icon (person+ icon, top right), then tap the Snapcode ghost icon next to the search bar. This opens your camera roll. Select the image containing the Snapcode — Snapchat reads it and processes it. This is the most-searched scanning method and works for both Snapcodes and standard QR codes saved as photos.
How to scan a Snapchat QR code on laptop: Searching “Snapchat QR code login”? Go to web.snapchat.com. A QR code appears on the login screen. Scan it with your Snapchat app camera to log in. This is Snapchat's web login feature for desktop access — not related to creating QR codes.
Snapcode not scanning?
Make sure you're using the Snapchat app — most phone cameras won't recognize the round Snapcode format. If scanning from a screenshot, check that the image is clear and not cropped or blurry. Standard QR codes created with QRKIT work with any phone camera.

Snapchat QR Code Design Tips
Use Snapchat Yellow (#FFFC00)
Use Snapchat's iconic yellow as the QR code accent color. Pair with a black or white background for maximum contrast and instant recognition.
Add the Ghost Logo
Upload the Snapchat ghost icon in QRKIT's customization panel. The ghost silhouette is one of the most recognized social media logos — place it in the QR code center.
Print at the Right Size
Minimum: 2 × 2 cm. Business cards: 2–3 cm. Posters: 8–12 cm. Rule of thumb: 10:1 scan distance ratio — a 3 cm code scans from 30 cm away.
Test Before Printing
Scan with both the Snapchat app AND a regular phone camera. Custom QR codes should work with both. Snapcodes may only work with Snapchat.
Use Dynamic QR Codes
For anything printed, use a dynamic QR code. Update the destination URL without reprinting — perfect if you change your Snapchat username or swap campaign content.
Add a Call-to-Action
Add “Add Me on Snapchat,” “Follow on Snap,” or “Unlock AR Lens” text around the QR code. A bare code with no context gets ignored.
Download High-Resolution
SVG or PDF for print — vector format, scales infinitely without blurring. PNG for digital use: social media posts, email signatures, and web pages.
